Hello, WNP Families! 💛⭐
I hope you and your families are doing well as our community continues to recover from the storm. I wanted to share a little update on our school as we prepare to welcome our Stars back on Monday, October 19.
Our power is on, and thankfully, there is no damage inside the school. Outside, we have a tree down, some damage to the shade covers on our kindergarten playground, and some sheeting that blew off our covered walkway. We still have standing water in several areas, but overall, our school fared well. Our students’ safety is always our priority as we prepare for their return.
We also received a food delivery today, so breakfast and lunch will be served on Monday!
To bring a little extra fun and comfort to our first day back, Monday will be Pajama Day for students and staff! Students are welcome to wear their favorite pajamas, but please have them wear tennis shoes.
We are looking forward to seeing our Stars, welcoming them back with love, and getting back to learning together. We will be ready! 💛

Good morning,
After careful consideration and respect for our community, the Santa Rosa County School Board unanimously voted at this morning’s regularly scheduled School Board meeting, to remain closed through Friday, October 16th. School will resume on Monday, October 19th.
This extension will allow for continued work at our school sites to ensure safety for our students and staff and provide additional time for our community to recover.
If there are specific schools on Monday still without power or where restoration work has not been completed, we will notify families in advance.
The school calendar will be adjusted as a result of the additional days of closure.
On behalf of Dr. Barber, our thoughts continue to be with all of our school district family. If families are in need of resources during this time, please contact the United Way at 211 for resources and support.
Please stay tuned to district communication channels – including our Facebook, Instagram, and the SRCDS app through Rooms – throughout the week for any additional information.

🌠Thursday, October 8 - Latchkey is canceled for after school care. If your child usually attends latchkey, please plan for and send a note for alternate transportation.
🌠Monday, October 12 - Teacher Planning Day - There is no school for students.
🌠Star of the Quarter will be RESCHEDULED for Friday, October 23 at 8:45.

Good morning STAR families!
We are conducting a lockdown drill at school today as part of our regular emergency drill process as required by state law. We know that drills can cause possible concerns for our students and families, but we believe it is important for them to know exactly what to do in an emergency. Our drills enhance their safety. All students are safe, and this is a required lockdown drill. Thank you for your understanding and support!

As we continue settling into our school routines, we appreciate your help reinforcing a few procedures that keep our Stars safe, comfortable, and ready to learn! 💙💛
🚗 Car Rider Reminders: Please take a moment to review our car rider procedures. Following these expectations helps keep our line safe and moving smoothly for everyone.
🎶 NEW Cafeteria Music Cycle: We are also introducing a simple 3-minute music cycle during lunch to help reduce the noise level and create a calmer environment for our students. When the music is ON, students eat quietly. When the music is OFF, students may talk with their friends.
Thank you for partnering with us and helping our Stars learn these routines! Together, we can make arrival, dismissal, and lunchtime a positive experience for everyone. ⭐️
